Spotlight on Chrissy's Cravings

Located in the heart of Schaghticoke on Main Street is THE hometown place to visit - Chrissy's Cravings. Founder Christina "Chrissy" Newton is a lifetime resident of Schaghticoke and an active member of the community. 18 years ago, she set out to start her own business, but never imagined it becoming what it has, but we are sure glad that she did!

A quick look at their social media page will tell you that they take work and having fun while working seriously here. Chrissy knows that many of the folks that come to work for her are taking on their first jobs and makes sure that she shows them the ropes of customer service. This perspective sets her employees up for success in their work with her as well as future roles. Instead of assuming they know what is expected of them during downtime or with their cell phones, she is intentional about talking about it up front. She also values her employees and shows them in various ways including throwing an employee appreciation day in the summer when the restaurant is at it's busiest. She knows that being appreciated goes a long way and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure her employees feel the love.

The atmosphere at Chrissy's has been intentionally designed for the whole family. Everything from the bright colors to the carousel to the indoor and outdoor eating options have had the customer experience in mind the whole way.

While you wait to give your order at the window, your littles can play on the playground or take a ride on the snoopy ride and they will never be fidgeting while waiting for the food to come out when they can find their friends out back - especially if you are headed there after a sporting event at Hoosic Valley!

And even if your kiddo was great the whole time, they can get a good giggle out of sitting in the giant Time Out Chair before heading home with a smile!

While Chrissy's is known for the delicious ice cream and sweet treats, the food equally fame worthy and always freshly made. As the primary chef, Chrissy takes pride in her menu and daily specials and it shows. You can find all the specials on their Facebook page and you can see more of the wonderful food options on their website. My personal favorite are the cauliflower bites that are clearly hand made and done to perfection in clean oil every time. They never fail! My boys would argue that she has the best chicken tenders in a 30 minute drive - and that's saying something for my nuggie connoisseurs!

Oh, and you will never get a stock photo of someone else's creations here, these are the real deal with no magic tricks like these mega corporations selling you food that could never exist in real life!

There's even a special menu item for the goodest boys and girls in the world.... you guessed it: the doggos! With a puppy treat on top of their whipped cream, your best friend is a guest of honor at Chrissy's!

We are thrilled that Chrissy is not only an official Partner Small Business of the GHV CBA, but also one of the founding Trustees. Her insights from 18 years of building a landmark in the center of town make her the perfect person to be helping us create a network to better support our local small businesses and find ways to help them to thrive.
